ELF | Your Personal Email Library Reminder Service

This library service looks like it could be very useful, especially where you have a handfull (or more) kids with their own library cards.

  • consolidate your library accounts
  • get email notices before items are due
  • receive email alerts on overdues and holds
  • receive text message alerts for holds
  • get your latest library listings by browser

You can get your notices by email or even by RSS feed.

I have sent a request to our local library to look into adding the service.

Mid-Columbia does send email notices 3 days before your books are due and when your hold items are in if you sign up for it. If you signed up all the kids’ accounts with your email address, wouldn’t it be pretty much the same thing?

Yes, but then you get multiple emails since they are not combined. ELF combines them all into one email and one web link! Now, of course not all 7 of my kids let me know what they are checking out but for the 4 that are still under 15 I insist on being able to find out if they have overdue books, otherwise they don’t get their own library card.

Now that I have been using ELF for more than a month I can heartily recommend it to others!
