Florida Counties use Geocaching to Boost Tourism

--Photo: Geocaching Logo--

According to the Gainsville Sun Original Florida, the tourist promotion task force representing the 13 Original Florida counties, has set up geocaches in each county to bring more tourists to the area.

Original Florida will hide caches with trinkets to lure visitors. The promotion will kick off with a geocaching contest called Hidden Treasures of North Florida April 20 at the Santa Fe Community College Teaching Zoo. A similar event will be held in Tallahassee.

The contest is designed to provide exposure for several tourist destinations in each county.

This is a great idea. Wish that more counties, cities, and other organizations would catch on.
