You Know You’re From Eastern Washington If. . .
Lisa at oh-BLOG-de oh BLOG-dah life goes on has put together a list that I thought was pretty funny -
You Know You’re From Eastern Washington If. . .
2. You’re idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.
3. “Vacation” means going to Seattle, Portland, Spokane.
18. You know how to pronounce Yakima, Wenatchee, and Spokane.
19. You know Walla Walla is a REAL town, not just a cartoon.
21. You install security lights on your house and garage, and leave both unlocked.
I was listening to a radio show the other day and they were talking about Yuka-ma Washington. Not sure why it seems so hard? I have also heard it pronounced Yak-ee-ma before on TV.

This was really dumb because these aren’t even true and I live in Spokane. You have to get true imformation. Please!! I’m telling all of my friends that this website STINKS!

Now there is a first-rate exhortation if I ever saw one. Gary, get some true information. Please!! With (or possibly even without) Alice’s permission, I am going to adopt that as my new motto. “You have to get true information.” I am inspired!
Unfortunately, it would seem that the price of this gem was your entire discerning Spokane readership. Dashed unfortunate, that.

I got a kick out of the comment too. I did not realize that my popularity in spokane was such that word of mouth could ruin it!
Also which one is not ‘true information’:
At first I thought this was a spam link – but she did not leave a link or a real email – so these are her ‘true’ feelings.

Gary, you have true information. Don’t let the Spokanites tell you different. (I know, because I published the same list on my own blog!) Not all of eastern Washington is Spokane. I grew up in Goldendale and live now in Moses Lake, and most of that list applies to us real Brownsiders.

I’m from Eastern Washington and this is all crap. I’ve actually never seen cars trying to pass a tractor on the highway, my idea of a traffic jam is the eight mile backup I was stuck in over a few days ago. Spokane isn’t hard to figure out. It would either be Spo-can or Spo-cane. Anyone who went to Jr. High should know how to pronounce Wenatchee. Even guessing at that would get you there, how else could it be pronounced? I’ll admit Yakima is tricky. I don’t know anyone that leaves their house unlocked.
